Following its latest appointment as project manager for the Board of Regents at Georgia College & State University and a string of other wins for clients across the US, international property and construction consultancy Gleeds has announced that it is to introduce a new senior team to manage continued growth in North America.

Stuart Lumsden is to step up and lead the Gleeds Americas business. Stuart first joined Gleeds in the UK as a quantity surveyor in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1999 before moving to the US in 2004. He will be supported by Will Burton – who heads up Gleeds Energy in the Americas.

To further strengthen the leadership team Gleeds brings in a new hire from outside the business, appointing Adrian Farren as vice president based out of the New York office. Adrian brings with him 20 years’ experience of the construction industry, having started out with Edmond Shipway in Birmingham, UK before relocating to the US as a senior cost consultant with Mace over a decade ago. He comes to Gleeds from global consultancy Linesight, where he led a team across the Americas.

In their new roles, Stuart and Will are to focus on strategic planning, identifying growth opportunities and spearheading expansion into emerging markets which will be invaluable in helping Gleeds to achieve its long-term ambitions. Meanwhile, Adrian will be responsible for facilitating further growth of the cost management offering and other priority service lines.

Stuart Lumsden said: "Gleeds has experienced major growth in the US in recent years and is targeting a further push in the coming three which will make the market second only to the UK in terms of revenue. We now have a network of eight offices across the US, with enormous opportunities in the energy, mission critical, infrastructure, and life science sectors to name just a few. I am incredibly proud to be taking the helm at what promises to be a hugely exciting time for us here, and I’m thrilled to be welcoming Adrian to the fold to help drive us forward.”

Talking about his new role, Adrian added: “As one of the few remaining independent construction consultancies, I have followed Gleeds’ success since the beginning of my professional career. Having the opportunity to be a part of its story as it moves into another promising chapter is one I’m extremely grateful for, and I look forward to working with Stuart, Will, and the rest of the senior team to shape Gleeds’ future here in the US.”

Gleeds Americas has recently been named as project manager on an extensive renovation of Herty Hall at Georgia College & State University by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. The consultancy and the Board have a relationship spanning 20 years and have won multiple awards for previous schemes, including the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) South Atlantic Chapter Project Achievement Award 2023 for its work on Georgia State University’s Convocation Center.
