OVO Wrocław

Streamlining the cost of investing in a futuristic development.

Gleeds is providing a range of services for OVO Wroclaw, a futuristic building featuring apartments, offices, retail and a hotel, spread over 24,200 m² of useable area and 9 storeys high (2 underground).

This exceptional building has been designed by Gottesman–Szmelcman Architecture, an international practice that focuses upon projects requiring innovative, multi-disciplinary solutions.

Construction began in April 2014 and is due to finish in April 2016. Our cost management team will help Star Group’s project stay on budget.

Beneath the surface

184 luxurious apartments will occupy the top three floors. Owners of the penthouses will also be able to take advantage of certain facilities in the hotel.

The 5* Double Tree by Hilton will offer 189 rooms, plus restaurant, gym, business lounge, conference rooms and ballroom.

A central, planted courtyard will be open to visitors of the shops, cafes and restaurants on the ground floor.

A key goal of the development is to be as energy-efficient as possible. As a result, it will feature on-demand energy management, a heat recovery system and low energy lighting.

Dropping costs

Not only were we involved in the tender process but our range of services will help Star Group make further savings as they bring this unique, luxury building to life. Its curved façade is made from Corian, a unique blend of acrylic polymer and natural minerals.

Challenges include:

  • Building next to an historical post office building
  • Numerous site improvements needed before work could begin

1st

building in Wrocław to feature blobitecture, a design movement characterised by organic, amoeba-shaped forms. OVO joins the movement in Poland, following the famous Warsaw's Złote Tarasy.

Investing in relationships

We provided cost planning for this building in two phases – the first time, the project was paused due to the financial crisis. Following the delay, Gleeds and Star Group continued to work together.

This iconic building will help regenerate the area and stimulate interest in Wrocław, western Poland’s largest city.
