The Kampus development is based in the heart of Manchester City Centre, with the vision to create the most desirable residential address in the city. The scheme consists of 478 apartments, across 2 new-build 15 storey blocks and a refurbished 1960's 12 storey tower.
Creating a characteristic development
The development aims to create a community based neighbourhood for people to socialise, relax and live. This will be achieved by maximsing the prime canal side location and utilising existing historical buildings, ultimately providing residential properties with an 'industrial theme', linking to the history of the development and creating a sense of character for the residents.
Gleeds worked closely with the design team and supply chain in sourcing innovative solutions to materials such as corium and pre-cast modular units. Collectively, Gleeds were able to propose a design which worked both aesthetically and financially.
In undertaking cost planning exercises, Gleeds carried out a detailed market testing appraisal of work packages and utilised in-depth benchmarking data to assist in providing an affordable scheme by assisting the designers with current market trends.
