The UK government has set out its plans to work with the construction industry to ensure public sector works are delivered ‘better, faster, greener’.

At a time of momentous change and uncertainty, the Construction Playbook couldn’t have come at a better time. The Playbook captures commercial best practices and the government’s expectations of how contracting authorities and suppliers, including the supply chain, should engage with each other.

These are set out in 14 key policies for how the government should assess, procure and deliver public works projects and programmes which all central government departments and their arm's length bodies are expected to follow on a ‘comply or explain’ basis.

Our specialists Jonathan Stewart, Dave CorbinJames Garner and Nicola Herring look into what this means for the industry, detail of the key policies and if it will be enough to drive change to 'build back better'.

Challenging economic conditions are accelerating change and innovation – and the search for more efficiency. But implementation is everything.
