The Building Awards are the industry’s longest running and most prestigious recognition of excellence across 23 categories. The Personality of the Year accolade is presented to an individual who is found to be able to inspire the industry through strength of character, and who is respected for their passion and drive, as well as business success.

Since Richard joined Gleeds in 1981 he has been instrumental in developing the organisation’s global footprint, and it now represents the best in British construction management on a worldwide basis. His nomination came as a result of his personal commitment and day-to-day continued involvement in achieving this mission.

Commenting on the award, Richard said: “I am thrilled and incredibly proud to have been recognised by my peers with this award. While I am of course delighted that my colleagues have been inspired to nominate me personally, the team at Gleeds has had a hugely successful year so I consider this a win a reflection of the tremendous level of hard work and determination shown by them.”

More than 1400 people attended the awards ceremony, hosted by comedians Katherine Ryan and Rory Bremner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Tuesday 7th November and is the second year in a row Gleeds has been successful at the awards ceremony, with the company collecting Construction Consultancy of the Year at last year’s event.
