Gleeds expands rail team to manage raft of new wins

Gleeds has strengthened its burgeoning infrastructure team with the appointment of Mark Syrett as Director, based in the company’s London office.

Formerly a Commercial Executive Director and a Programme Director with Transport for London, Mark brings with him over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry. He will be instrumental in the management of the expanding rail team, which has seen a 25% increase in turnover over the last 12 months alone following a string of new wins.

Mark will be joined by Richard Golding as Associate Director responsible for the delivery of audit and assurance services on behalf of the Office of Rail and Road, HS2 and the Department for Transport. Richard will draw on his extensive experience of the sector accrued during a 40 year career with the likes of Mott Macdonald and Network Rail.  

Commenting on his new role, Mark said: “Richard and I join Gleeds at a really exciting time for the infrastructure division. Having been selected for a host of high profile schemes, like Network Rail and HS2, we are both looking forward to an opportunity to getting stuck in to some challenging but equally rewarding schemes.”

Richard Steer, Chairman of Gleeds Worldwide added: “The UK government has announced its plans to invest between 1% and 1.2% of GDP in infrastructure, and we believe that both Mark and Richard will be instrumental in helping us to capitalise on the opportunity this presents. We intend to build on recent successes and expand our service offering across the sector further still over the coming year.”
